“If I really want to do something, I will go out there and do it.”
Apolo was asked a question: What is the #1 thing you'd like to do before you die? Today’s quote is his answer. Apolo was asked a number of questions in the interview … to read the entire interview, click here.

The much-anticipated 2010 Winter Olympics are right around the corner—opening day is February 12.
One of my favorite Olympic athletes is Apolo Anton Ohno. He captured my attention in the 2002 Olympics and won my heart in Dancing with the Stars (2007). His exuberant, anything’s-possible outlook is infectious and inspiring.
Today’s Real Zeal quote came as Apolo responded to the question: What is the #1 thing you'd like to do before you die? His answer: “I'm doing a lot of them. I don't really hold back. If I really want to do something, I will go out there and do it.”
Many of us are still creating 2010. So the question: What is the #1 thing you’d like to do before you die? is a good one.
For some of you, the answer is right there – you know what that ‘special thing’ is. For others, it takes some pondering, some inquiry. Once you are clear on what’s important to you, however, begin operating as Apolo does – go out there and do it, no more holding back.
[A caveat: Some of these special things take time to fulfill; they can’t realistically be accomplished in 2010. Yet, every one of them can be moved forward and have groundwork laid for their fulfillment.]
Life is anything but certain. There are no promises for tomorrow. Pursuing our dreams is EXACTLY the thing to do – this year, this month, today, NOW!
To learn more about this inspired Olympic athlete and to converse on the merits of creating one’s future, keep reading.

The first thing I want to say today is this: PLEASE take time to answer today’s question for yourself. I am confident you will find the exercise both valuable and exhilirating.
I’ve meditated on the question all week and when I finally arrived at the answer – an answer that was authentically true for me – I was completely energized.
For me, the answer to the question of what I want to do before I die: I want to live in a village – a place where David (my husband) and I can walk to restaurants, can walk to the grocery store, and can have a community of friends close to us. (Right now, we live in a lovely home with a beautiful water view, but we are miles from civilization.)
Spending time answering the question has, in a sense, given me a new future. I’m visualizing the village of my dreams and I’ve already begun laying groundwork for its fulfillment.
YOU can do the same.

The second part of today’s message is to provide you with some links that give you an opportunity to see and experience this inspiring young athlete for yourself.
By the way, if Apolo wins a medal in any of the upcoming speed skating competitions in Vancouver, he will become the most medaled athlete in American winter Olympic history, surpassing Eric Heiden.
I am confident that by now you are as inspired by Apolo Anton Ohno as I am. |
