ALEXANDRE BILODEAU, Olympic Gold Winner, Men's Moguls
“Where’s the limit for us?”

These words were shared by Canadian freestyle skier and moguls gold medalist Alexandre Bilodeau. He credits his brother, Frederic, with much of his success. To read the article and learn about this heart-warming relationship between Alexandre and his brother.

To see Alexandre's gold winning mogul performance.

As is true of many young Canadians, Alexandre Bilodeau dreamed of becoming a hockey player. But because his older brother, Frederic, had cerebral palsy and could not play hockey, Alexandre’s mother determined the family needed a sport in which they could all participate. She chose skiing and Alexandre’s gold medal future was born.

Alexandre and his brother are the best of friends and Alexandre credits Frederic for his trademark tenacity and perseverance. He fully believes that without Frederic’s inspiration, there would be no gold medal.

Frederic’s doctors predicted he would not be able to walk beyond the age of 10. However, at 28, Frederic is not only walking, he is skiing the mountains behind the family home. And so Alexandre asks, if my brother can do this, “Where’s the limit for us?”

It’s a good question, isn’t it? Where is the limit for us? I doubt any of us would argue that our limits are nowhere near where we think they are. That our abilities far surpass what we imagine.

This week, this month, this year … let us use Alexandre’s words and story to inspire us to push ourselves beyond where we thought we could go, to accomplishments we thought impossible. And as we look back, may we exclaim: “I had no idea I was capable of so much!”

Here's an update on our Inspired Olympic Athletes previously featured in Real Zeal emails.

Apolo Ohno -- short track speed skater. He won a silver medal and two bronze medals, surpassing Bonnie Blair as the most medaled U.S. athlete in winter Olympic history.

Lindsey Vonn -- alpine ski racer. She's won a gold and a bronze. Had to overcome a badly bruised shin to do it.

Jeremy Abbott -- men's figure skater. He ended up placing 9th in the overall competition. Learned this valuable lesson: He does belong on the world stage.

Kati Wilhelm -- German biathlete. Missed winning a bronze medal in the 15k event by only 36 seconds. In her other 3 events, her highest place was 12th.
